Crazy Eights Scoring

General

Your goal is to discard cards in your hand to get the points from cards that are in everyone else's hands. You want to win enough points to reach the goal and play the fewest hands possible on your way to the goal. When you reach the goal, you are reset back to zero and work towards the goal again.

Every card in Crazy Eights has a point value. When someone wins a game by discarding all of their cards, they win points from the cards left in other players' hands.

  • Wild Eights are worth 50 points
  • Skips, Draw Twos, and Reverses are worth 20 points
  • Aces are worth one, and all other cards are worth their face value

Note on blocking: If you run out of cards in the draw pile and someone is unable to play a card, the game ends in a block. The person with the least amount of points left in their hand wins the game, earning points from other players' hands after subtracting the remaining points in their hand.

Goal

Crazy Eights is won when you reach a certain number of points, or point goal. In All inPlay Crazy Eights, the goal is 1,888 points. Once you reach the goal, you have a chance to be listed on the scoreboard, and your points are reset to 0.

Getting on the Scoreboard

Each time you reach the goal of 1,888 points, you're eligible to be on the scoreboard. But to actually have your name in lights, you need to reach the goal with the fewest points lost. The players with the 20 lowest numbers of points lost when they reach their goal have their names listed on the scoreboard. Once you've reached the scoreboard, don't get too comfortable--your score expires two weeks after you make it, and you'll have to prove yourself all over again.
